Common name : true limpets
Aspect : conical shell more or less flattened (species often remaining out of water at low tide have higher shells allowing them to have a larger reserve of water to live while waiting for the return of the tide). Smooth or streaked with radial ribs.
Feeding : herbivore (algae). the teeth of their radula are made of a material that has the record of resistance to stretching of all natural materials (spider silk thread) or synthetic thread (Kevlar).
Environment : fixed on the rocks in the intertidal zones
