Common name :

Aspect : smooth, globose shell with low turn, large half-moon opening; columellar border thickened by a callus which can completely or partially mask the umbilicus; the lip fringe is fine and sharp. horny or calcareous operculum.

Feeding : carnivore (their large foot allows to cover their prey then to pierce the shells by the combined action of a drilling organ located at the front of the foot and the secretion of a calcium chelating agent which softens the shell and thus allows the radula to reach the body of the prey)

Environment : all seas, soft and sandy bottoms, because they hunt burrowing animals (especially bivalves)
