Feeding : herbivorous or detritus feeders (microalgae, diatoms, filamentous algae, detritus, seagrass or macroalgal fragments)

Environment : Worldwide in tropical to temperate waters, Indo-Pacific (highest diversity) Mediterranean, Atlantic, Caribbean, and Pacific coasts in sand, mud, or seagrass beds in shallow coastal waters; 0–30 m depth
