Aspect : coquille assez dense de forme conique caractéristique, spires basses et larges. Ouverture en forme de fente rectiligne s'étendant du canal siphonal (très court) jusqu'à la base du sommet. Labre à bord aigu. coquille généralement lisse avec des motifs et des couleurs d'une grande variété.

Alimentation : carnivore (radula en forme de harpon injectant un venin)

Milieu : mers chaudes principalement de la région indo-pacifique, récifs de coraux ou rochers
