Common name : dove shell

Aspect : biconical or fusiform with a thick wall that is generally smooth or decorated with fine radial ribs; moderate spire with a main whorl that dominates the overall profile; most species measure less than 2.5 cm; narrow, elongated opening with an oval, horny operculum

Feeding : very diverse feeding (carnivorous, herbivorous or grazing, and many omnivorous or scavenging)

Environment : distributed worldwide, with a particular abundance in shallow tropical waters, though they also occur in temperate regions such as southern Australia and the Mediterranean. They inhabit a variety of coastal environments, from intertidal zones (e.g., midlittoral rock pools and algal beds) to subtidal depths exceeding 1000 meters.
