Feeding : filtration of microorganisms in suspension (phytoplankton, zooplankton, detritus, and organic particles)

Environment : worldwide in temperate and tropical coastal waters; common in intertidal to shallow subtidal zones, often down to ~10–20 on sandy or fine sand-mud bottoms to burrow rapidly
