Aspect : rectangular bivalve with rounded and gaping ends. Hooks close to the anterior end. External ligament. Elongated anterior adductor muscle, larger than the posterior. Fairly short siphons forming a palleal sinus. Powerful foot, dilated at the end.
Feeding : filtration of microorganisms in suspension
Environment : buried deep in the bottom of pure or little silted fine sand, interdidal zone, world distribution
